Whether he changed his mind or what, I don't know, but I remember reading an old biography of him (before ROTJ) saying that the movies would have been 6 in total, so if he really changed his mind he did it a long ago. Or at least Lucas now denies and says it's always been only six. So far as I know, the plot hasn't been released.
